Jargon Watch

One of my favorite features from Wired Magazine has always been the Jargon Watch segment.

Here's the most recent list of words/phrases to be on the look-out for

Chemical Equator

n. A 31-mile-wide atmospheric barrier between Earth's hemispheres, formed by weather patterns. Lucky for the south, it keeps out carbon monoxide from the industrialized north.

Not to be confused with the inviible barrier that Rush Limbaugh used to cross in order to get his Oxys.

Cloakers

A device to keep heartless hackers from altering the radio-controlled settings on pacemakers. Still in development, it should permit only authorized doctors to reset patients' hearts.

How exactly do you think Dick Cheney has been alive as long as he has?
