Paying Attention To Detail

Sarah Palin, the woman who seemingly can't finish anything at this point in her life, has released a statement regarding the silly and slightly over-hyped "sun visor" story and why she decided the family needed to end their Hawaiian vacation a little early:

In an attempt to 'go incognito,' I Sharpied the logo out on my sun visor so photographers would be less likely to recognize me and bother my kids or other vacationers.

"I am so sorry if people took this silly incident the wrong way. I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection. As everyone knows, I was honored and proud to run with him. And Todd and I were with him in D.C. just a week ago.

"Todd and I have since cut our vacation short because the incognito attempts didn't work and fellow vacationers were bothered for the two days we spent in the sun. So much for trying to go incognito.

Straight away, I'm calling complete bullshit on this rationalization on two counts. First, considering her thirst for the spotlight and the very touristy nature of the Hawaiian islands, she was going to be recognized anyway. After all, she's one of the most visible women in politics that has had more media coverage than just about anyone this year - save Obama - so to think that donning an altered visor was going to prevent people from recognizing her was a poorly conceived plan anyway. She must have thought that since no one recognizes Clark Kent as Superman because he wears glasses then her trick was sure to fool everyone.

Secondly, and this is the part where her statement really falls apart, why not just buy a new visor that doesn't have anything written on it? The answer is simple - she wanted to be recognized. It's almost as if she wanted to start this story up so that she could make some absurd proclamation on Facebook and have all of her pals at Fox"News" and on conservative radio talk about how her privacy was violated or to twist this into some sort of liberal conspiracy showing that people are somehow afraid of this woman, or that liberals are trying to show Palin has nothing but contempt for McCain.

Make no mistake, she knew she was going to be seen and this was a great opportunity for her to get some more face-time and manipulate the media into paying attention to her.

Attention whoring at it's best.

You Can Count On It

One of the more bizarre, and ultimately pointless, arguements the fringe-conservatives and Fox"News" has against Obama is that he uses certain words at a higher frequency than others. And these aren't words that seem odd, out of place, or have no bearing on the subject at hand. I'm talking about pronouns like "I" and their new word that they were talking about this morning - "unprecedented".

Talk about a waste of airtime. They might as well have been talking about the frequency of times that everyone on Fox"News" uses the word "interesting". Sure, they use it an "unprecedented" amounts of times during every 24-hour news cycle, but what does that prove? Nothing, that's what.

Breaking News On Fox"Nation": Bill Clinton Eats

No, I'm serious. There is a highlighted piece on the Fox"Nation" website about former President Bill Clinton eating.

Seems that Fox"Nation", and ABC "reporter" Rick Klein take this to be a serious issue.

According to The Washington Post’s “Reliable Source” column (which has the photo to prove it), the former president waited in line Saturday night at Z Burger in Washington’s Tenleytown neighborhood, posing for photos and signing autographs as his take-out order was readied.

His order: double burger (hold the mayo), onion rings, French fries, and an apple-pie milkshake.

Fox"Nation" has taken issue with presidential food habits before. Not long ago there was another nonsensical piece revolving around Barack Obama's use of dijon mustard. Because, as we all know, socialists and hypocrites love fancy condoments and double-cheese burgers.

Next thing you know, Fox"Nation" will attempt to tell us that IHOP is a testing ground for biological weaponry and Obama was spotted in one of their restaurants talking to employees. Beware the new pineapple upside-down pancakes.

But They've Got Time For This?

It's not so much that the GOP are purely and blatantly the "obstructionist" party since January 20th of this year, but they are more than willing to waste valuable legislative time with nonsensical resolutions that mean little to nothing to anyone except a few fringe members within their own sect.

At a time of economic distress, two wars, and a health care reform effort stalled by political friction, Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, (R-Mich.) is set to introduce a bill calling on Barack Obama to formally apologize to the Cambridge Police.

The Michigan Republican announced on Friday that he would introduce the resolution unless Obama apologized to Cambridge Police Sgt. James Crowley for criticizing Crowley's handling of Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr.'s arrest last week.

Here's the text of the proposed resolution:

Whereas on July 16, 2009, Cambridge, Massachusetts Police Sergeant James M. Crowley responded to a 911 call from a neighbor of Harvard University Professor Henry Louis ("Skip") Gates, Jr. about a suspected break-in in progress at his residence, which had been broken into on a prior occasion;
Whereas on July 22, 2009, in responding to a question during a White House press conference President Barack Obama stated: "Skip Gates is a friend, so I may be a little biased here. I don't know all of the facts involved in this local police response incident"

Whereas President Obama proceeded to state Sergeant Crowley "acted stupidly" for arresting Professor Gates on charges of disorderly conduct;

Whereas, as a former Constitutional Law Professor, President Obama well understands that all Americans are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and their actions should not be prejudged prior to being fully and fairly judged by an appropriate and objective authority after due process;

Whereas, President Obama's nationally televised remarks may likely detrimentally influence the full and fair judgment by an appropriate and objective authority after due process regarding this local police response incident and, thereby, impair Sergeant Crowley's legal and professional standing in relation to said incident; and

Whereas, President Obama appeared at a daily White House Press briefing on July 24, 2009 to address his denouncement of Sergeant Crowley and stated: "I could have calibrated those words differently" but "I continue to believe, based on what I have heard, that there was an overreaction in pulling Professor Gates out of his home to the station."

Whereas, President Obama's refusal to retract his initial public remarks and apologize to Sergeant Crowley and, instead, reiterate his accusation impugning Sergeant Crowley's professional conduct in the performance of his duties;

Now therefore be it

Resolved, That the House of Representatives--

Calls upon President Obama to retract his initial public remarks and apologize to Cambridge, Massachusetts Police Sergeant James M. Crowley for having unfairly impugned and prejudged his professional conduct in this local police response incident.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee also has a petition going around asking "Do you think it's appropriate for our nation's Commander in Chief to stand before a national audience and criticize the men and women in law enforcement who put their lives on the line every day, when by his own admission, he doesn't even know all the facts?"

It's interesting to hear anyone within the GOP that would go along with this proposed resolution talk about "facts" when they are peddling completely false, misleading, or misguided information on healthcare.

Please Explain The Validity Of This

In which the Huffington Post gives Ferris Bueller and that chick with legs like knotted tree-trunks press for going on a date.

The headline reads "Sarah Jessica Parker And Matthew Broderick's Night Out After Babies".

What.

I mean, it's not like Parker carried her twins for 9 months. Nah, she left that job up to a surrogate so that her ming wouldn't hang like a wizard sleeve. So, what exactly is the relevance of this article? Are we intended to somehow feel good for this couple because they went to some trendy party and talked cod-shit to people they don't realy care about?

Journalism in action.

But Remember, Kids Are Off Limits

Jake Tapper, Karen Travers, and Sunlen Miller seems to be taking the Fox"News" route with this coverage of the Obama girls.

In a "report" on Tapper's blog, the focus put on Malia's clothing attempts to put a sharp focus on how she is "pampered" with expensive clothing just like her mother.

Is Malia Obama following in the fashionista footsteps of her mother, First Lady Michelle Obama, and flashing designer duds?

For the flight with her family from Washington DC to Moscow, the 11-year old First Tween sported a skirt that bears a striking resemblance to one by designer See by Chloe.

The skirt is available for purchase online at Intermix, retails for $345 but is now on sale for $219.

The White House does not comment on the clothing choices of the First Daughters’ and would not confirm that the skirt was indeed by the designer.

The Fox crew did simular reporting on Michelle Obama's shoes that she wore to a community even where she was volunteering - shoes that reportedly cost over $500. And that very fact was mentioned again here on Tapper's blog.

Why? Why, to show that the family is "elitist", of course.

While many will interpret this as being "in the tank" for the Obama's, it shows a fantastic lack of desire to report on something of value. Tapper, in many ways, tries to hard to be the renegade and play both sides of the fence on issues that really aren't issues so he can create the illusion that he's actually a reporter and is "fair".

What a joke.

A Fancy Burger?

Didn't realize that a mustard that costs $2.89 for a 12oz bottle would cause Sean Hannity to trot out the "elitism" schtick.

More from Media Matters

Jason Linkins @ Huffington Post points out that Hannity is starting to slip in his ability to trash-talk.

...at Ray's Hell Burgers, "You can order the patties simply grilled, with a chipotle-spiked 'diablo' marinade, blackened Cajun-style, or au poivre with a black-peppercorn crust." Fancy! And if Obama had really wanted to strut his elite tastes, he could have opted to add any number of artisanal cheeses, like Dutch mustard seed Gouda, Queen Anne Stilton, or a cave-aged Amish cheddar. See! If Hannity had done some research, he could have really unleashed an epic, idiot barrage over fancy foodstuffs.

This whole meme is just so outlandishly dumb, that it's a pretty clear signifier that the fringe-right really are running out of things to talk about.

But, since they started it up, let's take a look at some of the more "Hannity-minded" individuals on the Right.

Townhall blogger and Hot Air favorite Kevin McCullough wrote about his Labor Day feast that he "tried to keep simple"

So the Lovely Bride and my son both were required to work today (on Labor Day of all things) and even though I did a custom show for today - I wasn't AT the studios today.

So it fell to me to plan the Labor Day feast.

Tried to keep it simple:

Ribs, simple Barbecue sauce*...
Boneless Chicken Breasts also with BBQ sauce*...
Beer Soaked Brats... boiled in Guiness, no sauce needed...
Alaskan King Crab legs... original drawn better dipping sauce**...

* Half cup, simple organic barbecue sauce base, two tablespoons dijon mustard , two pinches of kosher salt, three-five grinds of peppercorns and four tablespoons of Chardonnay. Mix till texture evens and smooths.....

Sounds like a "fancy" meal, doesn't it, Sean?

Tony Blankley, in a poorly constructed screed about Biden and Obama takes time to mention that he likes Dijon mustard on his ham sandwich.

...the ham sandwich is not bland, particularly when you put a little Dijon mustard on it.

How much you want to bet that he likes the crust cut off the edges too?

Is this the best you can do guys? You're making it so easy for us.

The #1 Reason Why "Terminator : Salvation" Is Going To Suck

Here's a segment from the story provided by the AP:

Director McG presented never-before-seen footage during a Comic-Con panel and offered a few hints about what to expect from the highly anticipated fourth installment in the "Terminator" franchise.

The first few words of that paragraph don't really make sense when you consider who it is they're talking about. Everything he does is the same. We've seen itall before.

I'll give you a quick run-down of a scene from "McGs Terminator". I haven't actually seen the script, but this is pretty much a guaranteed shot description.

EXT: Warehouse district near ocean at sunset.

The dying rays of light from the Thursday evening sun cascade off the glistening skin of ( insert actress name with surgically enhanced features ) as she walks toward the camera in slow motion.

Cue Music ( insert latest electronic influenced Top 40 track that you've heard 174 times this week )

Three T-6969 robots rip through a time portal in the air in a spinning back-flip sequence ( personal note: get with MTV to see If I can get the rights to direct the music video for this too ) and fire off perfectly synchronized shots from guns mounted to their legs. ( personal note 2: what if the guns were coming out of their "breats". ) ( personal note 3: do terminator robots have breasts ).

Our heroine drops into a 360-spinning-side-kick and sweeps the evil robots onto their backs ( camera note: be sure that all this is in slow-motion too )

Cue overly used rap-track remix from Kanye West.

The robots and heroine are locked in close-quarters hand-to-hand combat. ( personal note 4: can we have this really overt sexual tension between the robots and the other chick? Can they do-it in one scene? )

Cue next overlapping track that now makes this out to be glorified music video that has nothing to do with Terminators at all ( personal note 5: don't call MTV, just submit this to network. Should sweep at awards ceremony ).

Giant explosions appear in the sky from out of no-where.......

You kind of get where this is going.

If you don't know who McG is - well, if you don't, consider yourself blessed - all you have to do is watch either of the Charlie's Angels movies. Yeah, he directed those pieces of theatrical excrement.
