Conservatives For The Prosperity Of Their Movement, Not America

At a recent "Americans For Prosperity" convention, it was anounced that Chicago lost their bid to host the 2016 Olympics. The resulting video that was released shows a room bursting into applause. These people, these "Americans" were actively celebrating their country losing a potentially fantastic stimulus for not just Chicago but the entire country.

American Princess blogger Emily Marie Zanotti broke the news to one room at the convention by saying, "If anyone cares, Chicago is out....The very first vote, they did not have any chance at even negotiating. They were out on the first vote." And that's when people that, for the last 8 years, accused liberals and progressives of engaging in anti-American sentiment by simply voicing opposition to the "policies" of conservativism and Republican regressivism rejoiced in this nations loss. There is a HUGE difference to be noted here. Liberal and progressive Democrats were trying to renew and mend how the rest of the world viewed America and conservatives have now taken it to another level by not only hoping that their country looses but celebrating that loss as well.

Does anyone remember when America lost the bid to get The Olympics in 2012? There was no celebration by Democrats, liberals, and progressives, was there? So, who's the REAL anti-American movement in this country?

Some Thoughts For Your Day

- You mean she actually DOES have a book coming out? Yep, Sarah Palin's book is called Going Rogue and clocks in at a whoping 400 pages. Yeah, 400. And talk about fast. Seriously, unless this woman was writing this instead of doing her duties as governor, then that might explain why she decided to quit. But I'm not buying that she wrote this all by herself. It's difficult to write even a modest book at around 250 pages, but the size of Palin's book makes the average piece of conservative drivel look like a pamplet. I'll bet there's plenty of "winking" pics in it though.

- She just isn't even trying anymore. Michelle Malkin has pretty much dove headfirst into the shallow end of the pool once she realized that Republicans were getting their collective asses spanked in the last election. Now, she's all twitching with rage that Barack Obama is going to try to bring The Olympics to America. That's massive amounts of revenue for the city of Chicago, should they get the event. Oh, Michelle, why do you hate America so much? And speaking of The Olympics, I wonder what her toughts are on Mitt Romney, as he claims to have "ran" the Winter Olympics the year they were in Salt Lake City.

- Conservatives are a strange lot. They whine, cringe, and shriek that they want to hear from Democrats on their positions, but once those Democrats do - whether it be in any media form - the conservatives think the Democrats aren't doing their jobs; that they're campaigning. Such is true with Obama. For months, conservatives have shouted that they want Obama to articulate this position, to explain what he wants, to speak directly to the American people. Well now that he has, conservatives just want him to stop. You see, you can't please these people. That's why Obama hasn't spoken directly to them. It's a waste of time.

- It's not suprising in the least that threats against the President have risen by approximately 400%. After all, with people like Glenn Beck, Michelle Bachman, Limbaugh, Hannity, and others within the fringe of the conservative movement stoking the fires of ignorance - and yes, racism - it won't be long until someone tries something remarkably stupid. It's even spreading to Facebook. I'm sure that the Secret Service will have their hands quite full for the next 3 years or more.

- The continuing meme that "Obama is Hitler" is becoming a standard issue talking-point for conservatives all across America. Whether spoken outright or inferred through the inane babblings of talk-show hosts and television personalities, it's still as pointless as ever, but is a shining truth for some. The message really works well at conservative conferences in conjunction with hints that armed revolution is necessary.

- Those "conservative/moderate" Democrats known affectionately as "Blue Dogs" seems to be coming to their senses more. It appears that at least 24 of them support a "public option" in healthcare reform. But all that aside, this isn't about what members of Congress and the Senate want, this is about what Americans want. A plurality of people in this country want affordable healthcare with the public option. And it's interesting to hear what some conservatives say about what the American people want. It's been told to me that most people haven't the slightest clue what is good for them. And to think people actually ascribe to such nonsensical thought.

Predictability : Michelle Malkin Whines About NBC And The Olympics

I had thought about prefacing this blog with the phrase "if someone at NBC had come up with the cure for cancer, Michelle Malkin would find a way to bitch about it".

But seeing as how it is the conservatives that tend to live in the "what if" world rather than the one that most people inhabit, I'll skip that and get right to the point.

Michelle Malkin - as well as those that follower her as if she has some hypnotic musk or perhaps a tractor-beam emanating from her evry orafice - seems to think that NBC is "supporting" or "glossing over" the fact that China is a "communist" nation.

True, China is censoring the internet, certain members of the press have been detained, people were removed, dust-masks were seen as insults, and some are even claiming that Bejing is becoming a massive police-state for this years events.

If Bejing were a dangerous place to hold the games, the IOC would most likely have not chosen it, don't you think?

But, the Olympics are about a coming-together of nations where a sort-of common ground can be shared and the spirit of competitiveness and sportsmanship is shared and learned from.

I'm opting not to watch the Olympics this year simply because I've lost interest in them.

True, as a former competitive swimmer, I'm hoping that Micheal Phelps gets all 8 golds that he is striving for, but I'm not going to watch - no other reason than I just don't feel like it.

Enter "The Pursed-Lipped-One", Michelle Malkin.

Malkin needs - no DEMANDS - that you have a reason that you are watching the Olympics, demands that you rationalize your reasoning of "supporting" NBC. She demands that NBC fall into lock-step with her and her followers. She ( and a few others ) seem to think that NBC is somehow "glossing over" the fact that the games are being held in China.

So, what do Malkin and her fellow compatriots do? They do what they always do - complain without offering a reasonable solution and ( their favorite tactic ) using Photoshop.

Seriously, if your ability to proficiently execute all the options available through Photoshop somehow made you a respectable and praise-worthy blogger, then Malkin and her reactionary-minions might be something to marvel at.

The truth is, it doesn't and she's not.

You're not going to hear about other protests, other activists' voices quoted, other's statements of disapproval echoed by Malkin unless she has "approval" of them alread. Why would the woman want to talk about anything that she didn't think of to begin with.

This whole "China-Bad-NBC-Bad-Malkin-Smash" schtick brings up an interesting point.

Why is it that so many people wait for a "world-event" to talk about things like nations censoring their citizens, governments removing any form of civil liberties, segregation, genocide, et al?

The reason is, to me at least, it gives them ( Malkin in particular ) the false-glow of "awareness".

You see, we like to admire people who pretend to know what they are talking about.

I'll be up front and tell you that I am ignorant about many things that I should know plenty about. But I learn. I read. I listen. I rationalize. I process and make informed, reasonable, logical decisions.

If there's one thing that I know of, one thing that I can say unequivocally, it is that Malkin has never supplied a "solution" to anything.
