The Modern American Right Hates Kids

I'm not sure of any other way to title this latest piece of uber-reactionary clap-trap from Jim "Gateway Pundit" Hoft.

After two years of these radicals in the White House we know one thing for sure…. They have no idea how the private sector operates. Michelle O’s latest scheme is a doozy. She wants businesses to allow employees to mentor children during part of their work week.
After all, they have nothing better to do, right?

Hoft - who is quite often linked at the Fox"News" hate-site Fox"Nation", doesn't bother to fact check sources, and thinks that talking about the US beating Russia to the moon is actually lauding their success - seems to think that giving children responsible role-models and offering help in a variety areas is tantamount to taking a shit on the American Flag.

But, such is the life of someone who is one of the louder voices in the modern American Right.

And Hoft's source, an allegedly "Christian" organization, doesn't seem to think this is a great idea either. After all, ensuring the safety and stability of children is so "anti-Jesus", isn't it.

Naturally, the ultimate mentor for a child is their parents. But considering that not all children are blessed with parents that give time to them, or that some children don't even have parents, are we to believe that Hoft and CNSNews think these children are so below them that they require no attention and caring?

It would appear that that is, in point of fact, precisely the point.

Off To The Races

Every time I hear conservatives talk about how they aren't racist, are against Obama because of his actions and words and not his race, or insist that it's really the Democrats that have a problem with race, I have to really restrain myself from doubling over with laughter.

And now, "Mamma Grizzly" Sarah Palin seems to think she could use a dose of Limbaugh-speak in her pre-presidential campaign rhetoric. Her target - Michelle Obama.

Certainly his wife expressed this view when she said during the 2008 campaign that she had never felt proud of her country until her husband started winning elections. In retrospect, I guess this shouldn't surprise us, since both of them spent almost two decades in the pews of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright's church listening to his rants against America and white people.

Despite the fact that much has been made of Jeremiah Wright because Fox"News" and conservative talk radio have decided to use truncated clips from, what are essentially, classic "fire and brimstone" sermons - ever been to a Southern Baptist revival in Kentucky? - and used those context free moments to formulate a narrative far too juicy for any conservative to pass up.

Do I agree with Rev. Wrights positions? Not particularly, considering I'm not a religious person and he ultimately latched onto the new found fame he was given and attempted to capitalize on it - with pretty poor results.

That aside, what are the potential repercussions that Palin could face because of this blatantly race-based and unfounded attack on Michelle Obama? The reality surrounding these statements in her book is that Palin will never have to answer for this - from her conservative supplicators, at least. She will, in all actuality, be praised by the modern conservative movement. Either that, or people will claim that this never happened, just like Beck fans claiming they never heard about him calling Obama a racist or simply stated that he would never say such a thing.

I truly hope that Sarah Palin runs for President. It will be a wonderful campaign to watch, as I'm sure that there will be more and far worse instances than this where she can be coached into making herself look like an even bigger failure as a human. That, and the fact that it will be interesting to see if modern conservatives are so blitheringly ignorant to cast a vote for a person that is more concerned with her own image than those she had been tasked to represent in the past.

Racial animus is, and will always be, part of the conservative ideological construct. No matter how often and how loud they scream it isn't, you should always remember that it's still there.

Operational Ineptitude

Found this over at Cesca's Awesome Blog and thought I would elaborate on it.

This is how Sarah Palin approaches healthy eating for school children:

Hmm...may bring cookies to my PA school speech tmrw to make a pt "PA mulls ban on cake/cookies/candy@ school parties..

Because nothing says you support nutritious foods for school children like dosing them up with baskets full of Star Crunches and Swiss Cake Rolls. Maybe for drug awareness week she would have brought an ounce of China White and showed the kids how to "chase the dragon".

The modern conservative movement is so eager to degrade Michelle Obama's healthy kids initiative that they are willing to go to any extreme.

Typical.

Attack Everything

I'm guessing had Michelle Obama wrote each spouse of the delegates of the UN a personal letter that conservatives would concoct yet another conspiracy about how the Obamas are out to create a "one world government". But they've only got vegetables and a gift basket to work with this time.

A special recipe of pickled, hand-picked ingredients from the White House Kitchen Garden, including sun gold tomatoes, okra, cucumbers, chocolate bell peppers, carrots, lemon verbena, and fresh herbs are presented in jars with the First Lady's signature. The jars are topped with original artwork done by California artists, Michael Cronan and Karin Hibma, who were inspired by a photo of Mrs. Obama tending to the garden with children and a wheelbarrow.

That's right, a gift based around the idea of healthy eating, promoting American small-business, and the very ideals that make up the American spirit of creativity and exceptionalism.

Naturally conservatives want nothing to do with that at all.

As the world leaders were back in the City scheming to divvy up money that doesn’t belong to them, the spouses hung around with FLOTUS and received a basket that I’m predicting will come to be known as “the re-gifting heard ’round the world”

Because all Republicans have been taught since Obama started his bid for the Presidency that you can't eat vegetables anymore, as only "liberal elites" do that.
This actually fits in quite nicely with Glenn Becks tirades about his french fries. Wait, are they still calling them "Freedom Fries"?

Oh, and for an added bonus, check out how quickly the racial invective starts up at Fox"Nation" in their comments section about this story. Yeah, no racists in the conservative movement - none at all.

Some Thoughts For Your Afternoon

- Apparently it's not good form to teach kids to eat healthy anymore. Michelle Malkin takes after Michelle Obama like she's built up a police force that is going to prevent parents from feeding their own children what they think is good for them. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that some conservatives are intentionally getting fatter to show their hatred of Mrs. Obama. Rush Limbaugh has already got a good start on this.

- It seems that some people in Alaska are starting to wake up to the fact that Sarah Palin is a complete and utter disaster. Some within the conservative realm are claiming that the release of her next book will boost her ratings, I have to question that. After all, people thought that here Fox"News" special would be a ratings phenomenon, but it turned into something wholly unspectacular. I'm fairly certain that her "nature program" isn't going to be a shining star on her record either.

- For conservatives to continually claim that there is no violent rhetoric directed at liberal/progressive, this little stunt doesn't really help their cause.

- You can generally tell when a conservative is completely out of rational ways to discuss any given topic when they result to homophobic/sexist blatherings. I can recall when Newsweek ran a cover picture of Sarah Palin and conservatives went completely bat-shit insane, calling it a blatant, sexist, attack. Personally, I didn't find it sexist at all, as Palin posed for and signed off on the picture herself. But there certainly are different rules for anyone outside the conservative sphere, isn't there.

- Much in the same way that Glenn Beck is completely misrepresenting what Net Neutrality is, Megyn Kelly is doing here part to misinform people by actually censoring the realities of what the FCC is trying to do. What happened to "fair and balanced"?

- Seems that Arizona has a serious problem not only with Hispanics, but takes issue with students even learning about them. I'm sure the term "racial animus" will be striken from any English text within the next few months as well. The one question I have is this - does this just do away with only learning about hispanics or anyone that isn't white and from America?

First Lady To Fox

Seems that Michelle Obama is going to make an appearance on Mike Huckabee's program.

Michelle Obama is making her debut appearance on Fox News this coming Saturday, on Mike Huckabee's show 'Huckabee.' The former Republican presidential candidate wooed the first lady onto Fox to talk about her childhood obesity campaign, "let's move."

Huckabee is probably the only program on Fox"News" where the host actually shows some semblance of respect for their guests. I'm not foreseeing anything spectacular to come of this, save the fact that Hannity and Beck will likely mock this in some sophomoric fashion.

And I bet the questions won't be pre-screened. Conservative women should take note of how it's done. I'm looking at you Sarah.

Michelle vs. Michelle

Has anyone else noticed that since being booted as a fill-in host on O'Reilly's program that Malkin has become increasingly more and more - how does she put it - unhinged?



Despite Malkin's hamfisted efforts in showing that Michelle Obama had something to do with the AmeriCorps IG, she, the President, and the White Housenot involved in firing Gerald Walpin.

The firing "would not have played itself out" were it not for the fact that the board raised concerns about the IG, Gerald Walpin, after the May 20 board meeting, a board member told TPMmuckraker. The board member added that the White House had no role in encouraging the board to make the review request, calling it "completely board-initiated." The White House had cited the request from the board in its letter to Congress explaining the reason for Walpin's firing.

But would you or anyone expect Malkin to approach her subject matter any other way that with her continually mouth-agape prattling? If there is one thing that she is at least moderately good at, it is connecting two divergent dots in order to validate the voices in her head that continually tell her she is right and everyone is wrong.

I'll play devil's advocate for a second and postulate this - what if Walpin was fired for "political" reasons? Would this be any different than the mass AG firings by the Bush administration? If true, this wouldn't make it any better, but Malkin's whinge and shriek doesn't lend the story any credibility.

Grasping At Straws And Shoelaces

Conservatives are are completely beside themselves over Michelle Obama's shoes.

While some are attempting to not look like complete doofs - but are still giant douche-tacos, it is becoming more and more apparent that these people are either running out of source material to write about, or they are quickly becoming that which they have continually claimed to loathe these 8 years prior.

As with their continued harping of Obama using a teleprompter, doesn't this discussing smack of rank hypocrisy?

Seriously, they're shoes.

Granted, they are expensive, but does this actually warrant such nonsensical ramblings from conservatives? Of course it does. We are, after all, speaking about a wandering, leaderless, class of people that would prefer to talk about how right they are about everything and not even offer facts to back these statements up or have any type of coherent plan for the future.

As for Michelle, I'm willing to bet that her shoes aren't going to end up in trash bags.

Sean Hannity Is The Conservative Perez Hilton, I Guess

It seems that Sean is beginning to run a little thin of material these days. Now he's going after Michelle Obamas clothes?



Seriously, how dare this woman dress nicely for her audience with the Queen of England! She must be mad. MAD I SAY!!

I bet she bought her own clothes though. Come to think of it, whatever became of that massive wardrobe?

Let's just get to the story, and then you'll know what I mean by my title.

House Republicans are pressing for a change in federal law that could force Michelle Obama and future first ladies to do more of their policy work in public. But Democrats warn President Obama may take the attempt personally “as an attack on his wife.”

The GOP effort is being led by the ranking member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), whose initial salvo was rebuffed recently at a contentious committee markup session. Under Issa’s amendment, any government policy group that Mrs. Obama or another first spouse regularly participates in would be subject to a law requiring meetings to be announced in advance and, in most instances, public.

Of course, what else would yo uexpect "conservatvie-Barbie" to say:

Cindy came into our hair and makeup room, fresh as can be, and unlike another wife of a political candidate who shall remain nameless, she didn't come with a list of topics that we weren't allowed to touch. Nope, that's because she has nothing to hide."

If you had seen the interview The View ladies had done with Michelle Obama, you would have seen the ladies treated with respect and dignity. Elizabeth seemed more than pleased that Michelle was on the program.

Any that saw this should have assumed, and rightly, that Elizabeth's pleasure with that day was all just an act.

So, with Hasslebeck's true feelings on Michelle Obama - and considering that there are three other women that sit at that table that can back this story up if it is ture - let's ask her to show us the list.

Seriously, though, it's becoming more and more apparent that Hasslebeck's knowledge of "the issues of the moment" extend only as far as the predictable clap-trap that she hears from her buddy Sean Hannity.

If in fact there was a "list" provided to the ladies from Michelle Obama, it probably addressed not talking about subjects that have no bearing on the election - like whether or not her husband was patriotic enough, or his flag-pin, or if he was ever a muslim.

We're More Patriotic Than You, And Probably A Little Racist As Well

There's a fine line that people like Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly walk when discussing issues involving 'race'. Fox"News" can present a story with definate "racist" overtones and have just enough 'wiggle-room' to get out of being called a blatant, dyed-in-the-wool, racist.

When discussing The Obama's, Fox has a big problem that many people are refusing to acknowledge. But, their problems don't stop with them.



When people like O'Reilly are called-out for being 'racist', they have this neat little trick that they play. They claim "race-baiting".

You see, there's something that the good people at Fox"News" don't seem to realize.

When you frame a story, or discussion, or an entire program around a person's race, you have injected race before your subject even has a chance to repsond.

Of course, stories like this - whether in relation to the Obama's or not - play well with the conservative base that makes up the bulk of Fox"News'" viewership.
