Bait And Spin

Fox Nation is all over the "shocking story" of how the case against 2 members of the the New Black Panther Party was dropped. A disgruntled, former employee of the Justice Department is having his turn in the spotlight by race baiting and accusing AG Eric Holder of dismissing cases based solely on race.

Fox"News" is relying on nothing more than specious claims and unfounded accusations in order to further racial divisiveness in America. They've been doing it for years and have had more than a modest amount of success. This is just another example of the conservative narrative of white victimhood at the hands of the evil black man.

The burden of proof is on this "whistleblower" and he certainly doesn't deliver. I'm wondering how long it's going to take Hannity to have this clown on his show with Eric Rush and Jessie Lee Peterson. The racial animus doesn't come any clearer from Fox"News" when you have a panel like that.

The Fear That They Don't Feel

Ever since the Obama adminstration's Justice Department decided to try 5 Sept 11th terrorist in NYC Federal Court, the collecting, mouth-agape, shrieks from the entirity of the Republican party has drowned out any semblance of rational discourse.

But now that former members of the Bush administration Justice Department are backing Eric Holder's plan, it would appear that Republicans will have to consider the very real fact that they are now against people that they once stood hand-in-hand with.

The reality of the situation is this - there have been nearly 150 terrorists tried and convicted in the US Federal Court system. That's a pretty impressive track record that conservatives are ignoring. To them, they see this as a golden opportunity to fearmonger and stoke the fires of willful ignorance within members of the electorate that would rather be told what to think than exercise any brainpower.

If conservatives think that this trial will make NYC a target, did they not think the same for the GOP convention in Minneapolis last year? Certainly there's going to be media attention, but what about all the rallies that McCain and Palin held last year - were they not potential targets as well for terrorist action?

Overshadowed, Irrelevant, And A Little Predicatble Too

Last night, in between attempting to perfect my pork-chop sandwich, watching highlights of Eric Holder's confirmation hearing, and a few rounds of Jack and Coke, I paused to hear W give his "fond farewell".

YAWN!!!

Not only was Bush overshadowed by Holder, but the real attractionof the day was Chesley Sullenberger's quick action in saving every passenger and crewmember aboard Flight 1549.

Certainly, Bush is going to be lauded by his peers and his channel ( Fox"News" ) but one has to wonder what was going through his mind. I mean, Dick Cheney was even bored:

And I'm sure that there were some people that felt a little sad. Just imagine Sean Hannity, Elizabeth Hasselbeck, and Rush Limbaugh in a cuddle puddle in front of the TV.

The Meme Of The Times

I find myself asking the question more often now since the elecetion is over:

What is exactly the purpose of Sean Hannity's attempts to convince his audience that Barack Obama is a "terrorist sympathizer"?

One would think that since Obama won, that Hannity - and many other lunatic-fringe conservatives - would have realized that there is only a tiny percentage of Americans that actually believe this nonsense.

Considering that such inflamatory and divisive rhetoric does nothing more than caused continued harm to the Republican party, it would seem that Hannity is more concerned with his ratings rather than the party that he allegedly represents.

It should be noted that:

None of the sixteen were convicted of bombings or any crime which injured another person, and all of the sixteen had served nineteen years or longer in prison, which was a longer sentence than such crimes typically received, according to the White House.[14] Clinton offered clemency, on condition that the prisoners renounce violence, at the appeal of 10 Nobel Peace Prize laureates, President Jimmy Carter, the Cardinal of New York, and the Archbishop of Puerto Rico.

via Wikipedia.

Consdiering Hannity's diefication of Ronald Reagan, it is more than just a shade ironic that Eric Holder was nominated by Reagan for Associate Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, on which he served for five years.

Though I tend to do my best to avoid the "what if" language that is easily dispersed by people like Hannity ( ie: what if this were George W. Bush pardoning people in the FALN ) it will be interesting to see whom it is that Bush does pardon.

While that moment is yet to come, I don't see Sean Hannity, or any like him, doing anything to make his party any more relevant. The themes that he continually espouses are helping anyone.

That Only Took A Couple Of Hours

Yep

A veteran of his VP search team and yes, believe it or not, another Clinton retread. One knee-deep in the Marc Rich pardon, to boot.

And as an added bonus:

Even better, he was deputy AG when federal agents extracted Elian Gonzalez at the point of a machine gun and did a cable news tour defending that decision. Elian’s father’s attorney at the time, incidentally? The One’s new White House counsel, Greg Craig.

Here we go......

The Only Thing You'll Hear About Obama's Attorney General

You can almost hear Hannity, Limbaugh, and Dick Morris salivating and circle-jerking at the thought of this.

...( Eric )Holder took flak in 2001 for failing to object to a last-minute pardon request for fugitive Marc Rich, whose ex-wife is a prolific Democratic Party donor, when others in the Clinton administration pushed through the petition during its last hours in office.

Oh boy. Primetime on Fox tonight is going to be all Clinton and Obama bashing. Oh, I'm sorry - it always is.
