The whitewashing of American history continues.
This very idea that conservatives aren't willing to recognize the sum total of American history is nothing new. We've recently seen Thomas Jefferson quite literally removed from history books that are being re-written by the Texas Board Of Education, so it's rather logical ( if looking at this from a conservative perspective ) they they remove slavery from any historical celebration.
Now, I'm not entirely sure why anyone would want to "celebrate" the South's point of view during the Civil War, but I do think if you're going to have a month where their actions are recognized, you ought to recognize them all. That includes slavery.
A Blog Version Of The Inside Of My Head. The place where politics, film, the media, music, pop culture, and random topics collide in an orgy of neo-philisophical randomness that would make your mother scream.
