Possibly my favorite track of the Badmotorfinger LP.
With My Good Eye Closed
A Blog Version Of The Inside Of My Head. The place where politics, film, the media, music, pop culture, and random topics collide in an orgy of neo-philisophical randomness that would make your mother scream.

Monday Jams
If I had to pick one band that has been consistantly forward thinking and has refused to be part of the mainstream it would have to be TOOL.
Here's my favorite track off of the Lateralus LP:

The Video Jam
Take metal ideology, neo-hip-hop lyrics, and some MAJOR pioneers of NYC turntablism and you have a fucking AWESOME track.
Wayne Static from Static X, The Executioners, and Lincoln Park.
Fucking amazing.

Tuesday Afternoon Musical Agression featuring Korn
Most bands will never be able to duplicate the power of their first LP.
This is true with KORN as much as any band.
While their sophomore release had it's signature moments, you could already tell that they were going to become nothing more than a caricature of themselves.
Luckily, we can still listen to the first album, and it sounds as fresh as day one.

Monday Afternoon Jams featuring Tool
Probably the only ( or one of the very few ) bands that have videos that aren't pointless.

Monday Afternoon Music featuring Danzig
For me, Danzig's 4th Album ( 4P ) was the start of their departure from the gothic-punktinged / pseudo-devil-inflected metal that Glenn had pioneered since he was in the Misfits.
The most noticable difference was Joey Castillo on drums. His style was a bit more rythmic and lest bombasic-stomp that Chuck Bisquits - who went on to join Social Distortion.
Cantspeak was possibly my favorite track on the 4P album and still has a place in my digital rotation to this day

Lunchtime Music feat. Metallica
The new album - Death Magnetic - comes out tomorrow and, I must admit, I'm pretty curious how the remainder of the tracks on the new LP are going to sound.
The first single - getting airtime virtually non-stop in my little radio market in Western Kentucky - seems to be an amalgam of several elements from previous Metallica albums.
The energy and speed of Kill 'Em All hasn't been around for years. The dark, almost malevolent, spirit of Ride The Lightning might be in there somewhere. The flow of the song, the changes and the almost proto-typical "thrash-metal-breakdown" half-way through smacks just a little of And Justice For All.
The top-40-over-produced drivel ( a la Bob Rock ) is gone, thankfully. But, this most certainly isn't Master of Puppets either. All that is left is a striped-down, raw style - you can really tell that in Lars' drum track.
The most notable change in Metallica over the last 10 or so years has bee James Hetfield's lyrics. His prose seems to have lost a lot of its power, though the delivery is still there. But, this is only a judgement from the first track that has been released.
I'm not going to by the album tomorrow, I'm going to just "find" a copy and listen to it.

How About Some Heavy Metal
Down was a favorite of mine in college. Loved Pepper Kennans guitar work in C.O.C. and his riffs in Down were no exception. Phil Anselmo could be ( and more than likely still is ) a prick, but he was a quentisential front-man.
This song - off Down's first CD NOLA - just jammed.
Enjoy

Metal Monk!!!!
There's something oddly intrugiing about this. Mixing reglion and heavy-metal has never really created anything great. Anyone remember Stryper?
I'll take a thrasher-monk over a "Rapping Rove" anyday:
Brother Cesare is better known among Italian heavy metal fans by his nom de rock, Fratello Metallo (Brother Metal). Describing himself as a "preacher-singer", "Brother Metal" has been singing for over a decade and has just released his 18th album.
