Iran on Tuesday expressed the hope that Washington’s foreign policy will witness practical changes after US officials announced that President Barack Obama will nominate Chuck Hagel as his next defense secretary. “We hope that practical changes will be created in the US foreign policy and the US officials’ approach will change to respect the nations’ rights,” Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast told reporters in Tehran on Tuesday. “We hope that the US officials will favor peace instead of warmongering and recognize the rights of nations instead of interfering in the countries’ internal affairs,” he said. “If such a trend is adopted (by the American officials), hatred for the US hostile policies will decrease, although assessment can be made in action,” the spokesman said. Tehran has been under Washington sanctions after the 1979 Islamic Revolution that toppled a US-backed monarch in the country.Iran Strangely Cheered By US Secdef Nomination And while Morrissey links to the same article, the title alone shows that he is more concerned with disceminating blatant misinformation. After all, being "hopeful" is completely disparate from "support" and "strangely cheerful". To read these headlines, you'd think Iranian leaders would be celebrating - but they aren't. The reason that the Modern American Right utilize such tactics, why they continually point to Iran as to a defining factor, and why they use the Jewish population ( yes, USE THEM - not befriend them ) is to push the wedge in just a little further. They don't want to face the realities of the world around us. They don't want to be honest with their constituents. They want to seem "caring", "holy", or any other adjective that could distort the five seconds in front of someone's face so they won't pay attention to tomorrow, next week, or even next year. So again, here's the question - what does it mean to be a friend of Isreal? Certainly it's not just attending an AIPAC convention, but there's a great deal of that. And I'm not so ignorant to see that politicians have to save face when election time comes around, but what does your support truly mean? This could, in all reality, extend beyond the Jewish State. And it's not even the "original borders" - something that is strictly off-limits to the Modern American Right in terms of foreign policy discussion. While Chuck Hagel wouldn't have been my personal first choice for Sec. Of Defense, he's lightyears away from people like John McCain - one of his loudest detractors - or just about anyone, save John Kerry. And since we are talking about McCain, let's not he was an ardent supporter of James "Fuck The Jews" Baker. Guess he conveniently forgot those years. Suppose it can be said for most, if not all, of us that the past comes back to haunt you. And Israelis have a past that many of them won't immediately recognize. I'm not talking about biblical or even verifiable historic text, but their history of being treated as metaphorical chess pieces in the foreign policy of this country. Do we endanger them as, if one were to say, showing pictures of the coffins of fallen American soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan would put more troops in harms way? Do we assist them in fighting Palestinians in such a way that would ensure a more productive, a more fruitful life? From how I, and many others, see it - No. Who Is A "Friend Of Isreal"? Certainly not those that would continually boast how they are.
A Blog Version Of The Inside Of My Head. The place where politics, film, the media, music, pop culture, and random topics collide in an orgy of neo-philisophical randomness that would make your mother scream.

What Is A "Friend Of Isreal'?
I've thought of what this really means within the landscape of our modern socio-political culture for quite a few years. The Modern American Right can never clearly define it, but do they really have to? For me, personally, this stems more from a religiously extreme point of view rather than from anything that will truly benefit the Jewish State. But I could be wrong - hence the question.
This morning, I noticed that mouth agape Breitbart worshipper Jim Hoft over at Gateway Pundit had launched one of the first misleading salvos in the attack against Hagel for Defense Secretary. And hyper-partisan hack Ed Morrissey followed suit - only with less bloodthirsty fervor.

Bring In The Jew Special Effects Team
As if on cue, Palin is allegedly set to make Jerusalem an giant conservative stage prop - all just in time to announce her 2012 presidential bid.
And while the timing of the trip is given a healthy does of spin from Rupert Murdoch's tabloid rag The NY Post, I don't doubt that Palin and her handlers wanted all eyes to be on her when and if this goes down.
It does make a great deal of sense, as her Fox"News" employers are certainly ramping up the "Holy War" talking points in relation to the Middle East and a potential escalation of American involvement. Of course, as I've stated before, conservatives and Fox want this to be an American Jihad. What better way to rally the reactionary conservative base than to have Palin "on the ground" and then ask "why didn't Obama go to Jerusalem before then?"
Theatre of the Absurd at it's best.
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is planning a trip to the Holy Land sometime this spring, New York Post columnist Cindy Adams reports.
Palin’s Jerusalem visit will occur before the April 29 wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton, presumably to avoid the international media’s obsession with British royalty, the Page Six gossiper says.
Adams speculates that it may be the first of several international trips for Palin, who was Arizona GOP Sen. John McCain’s vice presidential running mate in 2008.
A high-profile visit to Israel could help bolster Palin’s foreign policy credentials in advance of a possible 2012 GOP presidential run. There’s no word yet on Palin’s specific itinerary, or which VIPs she’ll meet there.
It’s not the first time a possible overseas tour by Palin has grabbed headlines. In December, The Daily Beast site reported that an overseas trip was in the works for Palin to visit England and Israel.
And while the timing of the trip is given a healthy does of spin from Rupert Murdoch's tabloid rag The NY Post, I don't doubt that Palin and her handlers wanted all eyes to be on her when and if this goes down.

Some Thoughts For Your Morning
- With Arizona governor Jan Brewer the "face of the moment" for Tea Baggers, I'm guessing this upcoming meeting with President Obama is going to earn her some face-time on Fox"News". However, her ability to be honest about the meeting will most certainly be in question from those not within the reactionary realm of conservative ideology. After all, they do tend to confuse constructive criticism with being totally unhinged and "angry".
- As per the norm for Caribou Barbie, she took after NBC when an alleged promise was made to Sarah and Todd that, if they chose not to appear on a program to directly respond to author Joe McGinnis, they would have any prepared statements featured on the show. Naturally, Palin and hubby lack the courage to appear anywhere but Fox"News" and opted out. Statements were prepared but never featured on the program. However, there is no conclusive proof that NBC struck such a deal and we are left to rely on the questionable words of the Palin's. I'm of the mind that they formulated this plan in order to keep up the narrative that there is rampant "liberal media bias" in America.
- Seems that little Jimmy O'Keefe is afraid to do any interviews on his own, as he's got his pimp-daddy Andrew Breitbart in tow during a sit down on Good Morning America. The incessant whining is pretty much non-stop and O'Keefe even admits that he would break the law again if given the chance. And it's likely that he violated his parole by engaging in fraudulent actions by forging Census documents.
- And speaking of O'Keefe and Breitbart, Andrew went on Glenn Beck's radio program to complain that they were "sandbagged". That's conservatives code for asking to be held accountable.
- I'm not entirely too certain who's side to take in this whole Flotilla episode, but when you have the Israeli government conducting the study of the "peace keeper's" actions, I'm detecting just a tiny bit of conflict-of-interest. Of course they are going to allege that they have terrorist ties, it fits their narrative all too nicely.
- Here's something for the brain to chew on. Right now, out of the 24 pieces on the front page of Michelle Malkin's blog, only half were written by her. She's been doing this a lot lately. And while I'm sure even The Purse Lipped Rage Princess needs a break now and again, I'm starting to get the feeling that she's working on another book. Perhaps it's about how conservatives didn't do as well in the mid-term elections as they thought. After all, that "Culture Of Corruption" book came out VERY FAST after Obama won the Presidency. Just sayin.

Perhaps He Should Be Called Joe "The Tourist" Instead
Check out Joe in action.
Ah, the good-ole days of limited news coverage when people didn't have opinions.
So, Joe, by your very statement, shouldn't you be headed home now?

John Hagee Is Pretty Much Crazy - So Are His "Followers"
The more we learn about Pastor Hagee, the more we start to see that he is one of the more ( if not the most ) controversial of the "religious right". By that, I mean that this man is certifiable - he's nuts. He, as well as his followers, are hell-bent ( pardon the cliche ) on bringing about the end of the world.
I don't think I've ever seen a "religious leader" this crazy, with this many devout followers, that has influence into some of the higher levels of Republican government.

I don't think I've ever seen a "religious leader" this crazy, with this many devout followers, that has influence into some of the higher levels of Republican government.
In late May, after three months of deliberation, John McCain called Pastor John Hagee "crazy" and renounced his endorsement. But Hagee has come back stronger than ever -- thanks to friends like William Kristol, Joe Lieberman . . . and the public relations firm W5, which also represents Microsoft, Snoop Dogg and Pamela Anderson. This week in Washington, D.C., Hagee's non-profit organization, Christians United for Israel (CUFI), brought together five thousand supporters of the bedeviled pastor, and a new regime of media relations was much in evidence. Hagee avoided issues that have caused controversy in the past (Armageddon, homosexuals, God's purposes for the Holocaust, Hurricane Katrina, etc.). By pulling back the veil and conducting unauthorized interviews with several of Hagee's Christian Zionist followers, ANP reveals the fanatical ideology that still lies behind the CUFI's more restrained rhetoric. One CUFI member argues that "hard-core Jews deserve the anti-Christ." Another describes how the anti-Christ will take over the European Union, broker peace in the middle east, then destroy the world.
