Christian Toto Has His PJs In A Twist

Toto is a writer for Pajama's Media.

You remember them. They financed the disaterous trip of Joe "The Gimmick" Wurzelbacher to Isreal as a "war correspondant.

Now, he's taking issue with a new documentary that shows just how hateful the McCain campaign's fanbase leading up to the election of Barack Obama.

...[N]ot everyone was in such a charitable mood as it became clear Obama’s lead wouldn’t go away. And those are the folks documentary filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi sought out for her new HBO program Right America: Feeling Wronged: Some Voices from the Campaign Trail.

The documentary, debuting tonight at 8 p.m. EST, captures the very worst elements of those who climbed aboard Sen. John McCain’s Straight Talk Express.

Close your eyes for a moment. What kind of documentary would you expect given the subject matter and the filmmaker (Pelosi is the daughter of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi)?

If you said the film would show conservatives as ignorant, racist, hateful folk who genuinely cling to God and guns, give yourself a prize. Bonus points go for those who predicted the film would characterize McCain/Palin rallies as hate events.

You wanna see hate? Check out the next anti-war march. Yikes.

Pelosi, who has displayed an ability to walk an unbiased line with documentaries like Journeys with George and, most recently, The Trials of Ted Haggard, lets her ideological flag fly this time ’round. She also proves incapable of revealing some inner truths about her subject matters, something that hurt her Haggard piece as well.

Toto takes issue with the very real fact that there was a healthy does of hatred leveled at not only Barack Obama, but those that voted for him as well.

He doesn't seem to realise that the divisive nature of the McCain campaign was, and still is, very real. Remember these people:

----------------------------------------------------

In all fairness, I have to tell you, I haven't seen Pelosi's latest documentary feature.

So, I'm going to reserve my opinions on the film until after I have seen it.

The point of this post was to show that Christian Toto, and many like him, still can't seem to realize the dividing nature of not just the McCain campaign, but the party that they affiliate themselves with.

That's MY Ocean Perch! No, It's MINE!!!

Seems that Palin might have been just a little correct when she claimed she had foreign relations experience. Maybe.

Robert Draper of GQ had a converation with McCain campaign go-to-guy Mark Salter:

In mid-September, I was having a drink with Salter and asked him about how the senator and the Alaska governor got along. “Well, they’re kindred spirits,” he replied. He then segued into McCain’s fascination with Todd Palin’s snowmobiling feats—though allowing that the First Dude was a somewhat “laconic” storyteller. I asked Salter if he had a sense of Governor Palin’s grasp of national security issues. He brought up the Russia talking point, amplifying it thusly: “They border Russia. People mock that. But they have, like, fishing disputes.”

Suprisingly, when this little nugget-of-joy was presented to Greg Jarrett on Fox"News", he actually called-out Tyler Harbor for trying to push it as valid experience.

Something tells me that Jarrett got a little "talking-to" by management after this.

Florida McCain Campaign Video

Via TheUptake

Even as the Republicans are screaming "voter fraud" in relation to ACORN, it's interesting to note that a McCain staffer didn't want any of the "paid volunteers" interviewed.

Lorisir @ DailyKos made this observation about the "paid volunteers":

My favorite moment is at about 3:15 when she is talking with a paid "volunteer" who laughs at the idea that he is paid (even he knows it's ridiculous) and seems reluctant to say yes he is "with the campaign". It doesn't seem like he is reluctant because of any nondisclosure agreement but more because he is not really "with" them if you know what I mean

Is Sarah Palin Going To Drop-Out?

Considering the blogging community and several press outlets are the ones that actually vetted Sarah Palin, it is no suprise that we are learning info that the McCain campaign may be wanting to keep a lid on. That, or we are learning just enough to make us all quite curious - and rightfully so.

That being said, there is also a vast array of useless speculation. I'm speaking of the "Is Trig her son or Bristol's son" type of nonsense.

As conservatives are falling over one another to have their chance to talk about Palin, her detractors, and those that may helpe or harm her, there is an element to Palin's VP status that doesn't seem to be quite "right".

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who was to star at two major California fundraisers and an Orange County rally for 15,000 next week, has canceled her two-day swing through the Golden State, campaign sources said.

Two California Appearances Cancelled

The change is a shocker, because Palin's presence had electrified the GOP base in California. Party insiders were distributing 15,000 tickets to her Sept. 26 rally in Orange County -- and fundraisers reported an almost instantaneous sell-out of her two $1,000-a-head Sept. 25 fundraising events in Orange County and Santa Clara.

Washington Appearance Cancelled

Republican vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin had to cancel her plan to come to Washington next week for a fundraiser and campaign rally, The Olympian is reporting.

Former Secretary of State Ralph Munro called the newspaper shortly after the event was announced to notify them of the change of plans. He said the campaign was hoping to replace Palin with Sen. John McCain's wife, Cindy, and that they were hoping to bring Palin to the state some other time before the election, as well as the nominee himself.

Yet despite recent polls showing the presidential race tightening here in Washington, Munro was only cautiously optimistic about the chances for a successful reschedule.

"We're working hard on that. We've always been realistic about it," Munro told The Olympian. "We're not Ohio. We're not Indiana. We're not Florida."

Today's Fundraiser In Va. Beach Cancelled

Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee, has cancelled a scheduled trip to Virginia Beach next week.

“We’re very disappointed,” Kenny Golden, the GOP chairman in Virginia Beach, said Wednesday. Golden said the national campaign informed him “she’s changed her schedule.”

Palin, the governor of Alaska, was slated to appear at a private fundraiser in the resort city on Sept. 18. Golden said he was trying to arrange for her to also appear at public rally.

“We still hope to get her down here sometime, but we don’t have a commitment on any date,” Golden said.

Wyoming - Cancelled

Miami - Cancelled due to "weather issues" even though there's only a 30% chance of rain.

Tampa - Cancelled for a second time

Now, Palin has beendisinvited from the Anti-iran rally.

Some in the conservative realm are making hay out of that last one. But, when anyone says anything that might even be remotely in relation to Palin, blood-pressures are sure to rise.

Perhaps I'm reading more into this than I should. But, let's put some further context to the recent cancellations.

Todd Palin is refusing to testify about "Troopergate".

Palin has yet to release her tax returns. We have over 10 years of Bidens up for examination.

There is still the issue of her "experience" that she and McCain are intentionally spinning or ignoring all together.

And, her rhetoric ( reform, earmarks, experience, et al ) just doesn't match up with what she has actually done.

Something is brewing on the horizon.

What it is, I can't be sure of. But, one thing is for sure, it's going to be big.
