Check out and you'll see what Gov. Chris "No, I'm Not Going To Run For President" Christie has to say when asked a very honest and non-threatening question.
For starters, Christie acts as if the woman is demanding the address of the school and the name of his kids' teacher. Both of which are clearly not intended. But hey, it's a "red meat moment" so you know Christie is going to lap it up like so much Palin-churned cream.
Gail never requested the scholastic status of Christie's children, but he certainly offered it. Gail wondered whyy Christie wanted to punish the public school system, and that is what raised his blood pressure. Do you really have to wonder why?
And then he breaks out the "I pay more than you in taxes" meme - which I would love to fact check - in order to create the illusion that Gail's question is not only irrelevant, but that her entire existence and that of public schools is irrelevant in New Jersey.
Don't let the "choice" meme coming from the Modern American Right fool you. Chris Christie and his eager followers demand that your children be "educated" from a religious standpoint.

No, Please, Keep It Up
The modern American Right isn't so much afraid of losing their freedom of speech as they are afraid of admitting the obvious - that there are actually people out there that can, will, and have taken what they have said as gospel and gone on to perpetrate heinous acts of violence.
Whether they are gnashing their teeth over unrealistic fears of a reimplementation of the Fairness Doctrine - something I would think that the modern American Right would welcome, as they are always eager to shout that there is consistent and clear bias against allowing any conservative/libertarian point of view be shown in the media, as it is obviously controlled by evil liberals - or that the FCC will begin shutting down stations that carry Limbaugh, Beck, or Hannity, there hasn't been a hush given to Right Wing rhetoric as it has actually amplified since Tuscon.
And to that, the modern American Right is proving the point of the Left.
Ever since word broke that a Democratic Congresswoman was shot, that a Federally appointed Judge was killed, the modern American Right has been in full damage control mode. From insisting that all violent acts against political figures in America, that all murders in America that even hint at the final solution of an anti-government activist, were carried out by members of the Left to continuing to stoke the fires of "they're coming to get you" by people like Beck, Limbaugh, and Fox"News", the modern American Right can't seem to see the irony in what is transpiring.
They are increasing their anti-government, anti-democratic, pro-uprising language.
Not only that, but we are beginning to see their rising stars begin to diminish. Take a look at modern conservative messiah Chris Christie on Palin and Obama:
In the weeks and months prior to Tuscon, Christie was being heralded as a solid Presidential candidate, and how he's the RINO Messiah?
To all this, I say "keep going" to the modern American Right.
But what are the far reaching implications of all this?
Has Palin increased her chances of getting the nomination from the Republican Party for President?
Are other aspiring Presidential candidates, like Pawlenty and Romney - the later soundly crushing her in early polling - going to use this against her?
Is the modern American Right going to split in two by using what happened in Tuscon between now and election day 2012.
Keep it up, guys.

History Lessons
For Democrats: past is prologue.
For Republicans: "why you bringin up old shit"?!?!
While conservatives will highlight that "it wasn't just Chris" that did this - as the article reports, this doesn't shine be best of lights on the "fiscal powerhouse" of Christie.
This sort of thing, much like how the national debt falls more at the feet of Republican administrations than Democratic, will either largely be ignored or become a talking point about the "need to get one's message out through travel".
I suppose we'll wait and see. The "waiting" part will likely take a great deal of time I would imagine.

Gov. Christie, while serving as U.S. attorney, billed taxpayers for luxury hotels on trips and routinely failed to follow federal travel regulations, according to a report released Monday.
The report, released by the U.S. Department of Justice's inspector general, found that while many U.S. attorneys and their subordinates approved their own travel and expenses, the vast majority complied with the approved government lodging rate.
While conservatives will highlight that "it wasn't just Chris" that did this - as the article reports, this doesn't shine be best of lights on the "fiscal powerhouse" of Christie.

Education, Conservativism, And Reality
The hypocrisy of the modern conservative movement is not only laughably transparent, but simply mind-numbing at times.
Here's a clip of the man that is slowly becoming the new "conservative Jesus", amongst some within the right-wing blogosphere, talking about how it's not right that his state didn't get Federal funding for schools under the "Race To The Top" program.
While Hot Air tries to reinforce the point that representatives of the Christie administration gave the correct numbers in a "face to face" interview and that the numbers are also available on the Treasury website, who's to say that those numbers aren't correct as well? After all, this is a man that has been hoisted onto a golden pedestal by Republicans all across America as a shining example of leadership and fiscal responsibility - so wouldn't it stand to reason that he would have a staff with the competence enough to know the difference between one number and another? Apparently not.
That aside, don't you just love the way that Christie is blaming the Obama administration for his own administrations incompetence. By that, I mean that I would really love to see the PDF file of the application where the incorrect data was placed. Are we to simply take Christie at his word? Are we to believe that the "single page" that was submitted that was headlined with numbers that even Kindergartners can distinguish was returned incorrectly by a conservative administration?
Moreover, the conservative point of view that there are "too many pages" to a given project only further echoes the reality that conservatives favor an over-simplification of America. After all, if just took "one page" to fix all the problems and obstacles that we faced, wouldn't this country be so much better?
And while Christie states at multiple times that he is responsible for this, there is more than enough blame for those he and his mouth agape followers would love to see fail. So what was this press conference all about? Was is about his administration being held responsible for an error, or was is about him blaming Barrack Obama for something that his staff simply couldn't do?
I think we all know the answer.
And isn't this a great opportunity for us to revisit how much Chris Christie belittles the value of teachers in the state that he claims to lead.......

Christie's Continued Assault On Teachers
In which the Morning Joe crew don't challenge Chris Christie the way they should.
What Christie is doing is nothing new for conservatives, but I still have to ask - why teachers? Why not look at freezing the salaries of government officials first. After all, nothing says "fiscal responsibility" like making sure that your position in the political landscape isn't damaging the area you are attempting to govern. I think this is the first step that Christie should have taken. After all, conservatives are continually trying to make sure that no member of Congress has a pay increase.
Certainly, everyone should have to sacrifice, but to hear Chris Christie talk down to a teacher and essentially tell her to quit if she doesn't like it, you get the feeling that he isn't so much concerned with the financial well-being of those in his state as he is in maintaining the caricature of a modern conservative.
As an aside, something I found rather odd and somewhat unsettling. It involves education in the state of New Jersey, but a style that Christie might endorse. It doesn't paint a pretty picture of the future of private education in New Jersey.

Christie's Backpeddle
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is having to do some serious damage control after comments he made regarding immigration reform that caused some conservative to do a double spit-take and start making excuses.

Considering that Christie is already being floated as a possible Presidential candidate in 2012, I’m not surprised that Fox”News” is providing a platform for him to spin his comments. Christie's statements dovetail quite nicely with what conservatives claimed was a call for blanket amnesty from Obama, and that didn’t set well with conservatives. This is spin in its purest form.
Some righties, Ace among them, are shrugging this off, which I kind of understand. For one thing, conservative rock star though he be, Christie’s still a Republican leading a deep-blue state. We may want to believe he’s Reagan reincarnated but there’s probably a little of Rudy Giuliani in that political DNA. For another thing, he’s wisely chosen not to be too specific about this issue so the quotes end up being ambiguous. What kind of path to citizenship, precisely, does he have in mind? No idea, which is just how he likes it, I’m sure. And of course, he gets the “true conservative” benefit of the doubt that grassroots righties always extend to GOP icons until they say or do something irretrievably RINO-ish. Palin used to be the paradigm example: If she said something sketchy, like, er, about supporting a path to citizenship for illegals, excuses would immediately be offered that she was misquoted or the media was out to get her or (more credibly) that she was only saying that under duress from the McCain campaign, etc. Ever since she endorsed Maverick in Arizona and Fiorina in California, my sense is that people are a bit (but only a bit) stingier towards her in that regard. Christie is still in the full flush of his “the next Reagan?!” buzz, though, he gets the full complement, which means this shouldn’t make too many waves. I think.

Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) on immigration reform: "The federal government has to get in. They have to secure our borders and they have to set up common sense rules to give people a pathway to citizenship."
Gov. Christie said the state of New Jersey itself can do "very little" to fix this problem, however.
On people who enter legally: "[They] have to be given a pathway to become citizens."
On those who enter US illegally: "My view is that they need to get on the back of the line."
Christie says they should return to the country of their origin "if practical."
"I don't think that you're going to be able to say every person who is in this country illegally is going to go back to their country of origin. That's not going to happen. But, I don't think, Sean, that people who are here illegally should be able to cut [in] the line in front of people who are doing the process the right way," Christie said.

But I Thought.....
....it was about the teachers ( ? )
Again, Chris Christie is placed on the conservative pedestal and is already being floated as a viable Presidential candidate in 2012.
I've already spoken about how conservatives are staunchly anti-worker/anti-organization, but this back-peddling by Christie is simply preposterous. Of course it's about the teachers. Virtually every conservative that discusses education takes issue with teachers. From Bill O'Reilly to Glenn Beck to Sean Hannity, the conservative mantra regarding public education is that the teachers are destroying our children. So yes, it IS about the teachers.
The teachers union is about bringing a voice to the educational system, to ensure that their voice is heard in government and that they get their fair shake. I'm again wondering why Governor Christie isn't more concerned with lobbyists from oil companies, the tobacco industry, or chemical companies. Is it because their voices are more important to him than those that are trying to ensure that our schools have proper funding, that our teachers have not just a living wage but a competitive one?

Some Thoughts For Your Morning
- Conservatives love to use the specter of war, Nazism, and family in conjunction with one another to play to base emotions within the movement. Arizona governor Jan Brewer has conflated all three into a blatant lie in order to defend the over-reaching immigration law in her state. I wonder what else she's distorting in order for people to be on her side?
- I'm a fan of Sarah Silverman, but much in the same way that Janeane Garofalo stated, blanket statements about racism don't help the liberal/progressive cause. She is correct that there is a racist element to specific programs within the Fox"News" programming timeline ( both past and present ) I don't think the entire line-up is as racially motivated as it is completely and utterly dedicated to disseminating misinformation en masse.
- I'm continually asking myself why conservatives hate an organized workforce. They call groups like "teachers unions" a "special interest groups" that are there for nothing more than to have the upper hand in political power. I find this rather disturbing in the fact that these teachers are organizing in order to ensure that they have a voice beyond their vote at the polls. They want schools to be a place for all students, not just a select few. Why aren't conservatives concerned about corporate lobbyists? Could it be because they don't care for the average American, that they are there solely to see Republican ideals implemented that would ultimately afford mass deregulation to rape the American economy like they did during the Bush administration? Conservatives want privatized education that is affordable to the few, because to them, not all Americans deserve education.
- Seems that BP is starting to cover-up the fact that there environmental disaster is starting to show up on beaches in the form of dead animals. The "drill, baby, drill" meme is not just "spill, baby, spill" but "kill, baby, kill".

Some Thoughts For Your Morning
- It's never been surprising to me that conservatives favor discrimination and often full-throated racism. But when a black man actually defends these actions, then that's when you have to start asking yourself "how is this possible".
- After hearing about this private meeting that Obama had with Republican Senators on NPR yesterday, I was fully prepared for one or more of the Republican "leaders" to talk about how Obama was this "angry black man". Didn't take too long for them to get pretty close to that description, as Senator Bob Corker claimed the exchange was "testy" during the NPR segment. It seems clear to me that Republicans ( whether they be elected officials or not ) have a difficult time distinguishing anger from constructive criticism.
- Conservative love Chris Christie. From his standpoint on public school teachers, this doesn't surprise me. But what gets me is his gimmicky nature, his willingness to create this gangster persona, and how he appears to want to take the state of New Jersey in the same direction that came pretty close to killing Colorado Springs.
- Again, the xenophobic and racist nature of the modern GOP comes out. It seems that they think only white Americans born in the US are "patriotic". This has been a key talking point with Republicans since Obama took office last year - that they ( white Republicans that is ) are somehow more patriotic than anyone else in this country. Guess they've never met any non-whites that have served in the military or the families of those that have died protecting the very freedom that allows them to be so insatiably stupid.
- Most everyone within the conservative realm are really wanting Obama to screw up in some fashion that will allow them to crow like Peter Pan on crystal meth for the next few years. Even if there are dead people, animals, and destroyed eco-systems, I think it's a safe bet that there are even conservatives praying to God that Obama fails in regards to the BP oil spill. But contrary to their talking points, the Obama administration has been doing more then most people realize.

Some Thoughts For Your Morning
- Apparently the new conservative mantra is that "we are all Arizonians now". I certainly hope not. While there are already a report of violence against American citizens who are of Hispanic heritage, that lead to murder, I'm wondering why conservatives would even want to be seen in such a light. And while it's being continually pointed out by the loudest voices on the Right that 70% of residents of Arizona support the law, I'm quite curious as to if they have not only read the 10 pages and have thought about the languages far-reaching implications.
- Conservatives are already politicizing the Miss USA Pageant and the latest winner - Rima Fakih. There's all the smear material there for several Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity programs - she's apparently less than informed on what drugs are legal and illegal and ( gasp ) she's got an Arab name. As for me, these pageants don't represent America or a plurality of women within the country. By and large they are a popularity contest where the winner is decided by a panel of judges that wouldn't know poise, honesty, and originality if it hit them in their drooling cake holes.
- Isn't it times like this when members of the Obama administration ( or Obama himself ) are called "unhinged radicals"? I hardly see how Gov. Cristie "destroyed" the reporter asking the question, but conservatives need an ego boost every now and again - especially now. If I were that reporter, I would have seen just how "thin skinned" by asking him why he is cutting funds from the state that directly impact students and education.
- Beck must have thought that he was the second coming of Jesus Christ, as he gave the commencement address at Liberty University AND gave a speech at the NRA convention within hours of each other. But did I hear right, that Beck agreed with something Mao said!?!? I'm sure the voices in his head will have him create a show where he attempts to prove that sometimes it's ok to quote your adversaries - that is, if you're a conservative.
