Last week, liberals in Congress voted for the equivalent of a $150 billion tax increase. They voted to make your next trip to the gas station more expensive; to make your next airplane ticket more expensive; to make heating your home more expensive -- even to make feeding your family more expensive.
How did they do it? By voting to block environmentally sound production of U.S. energy in favor of continuing to be held hostage to oil from foreign dictatorships. I'll explain in a minute.
More here.
While it's a standard response from someone like Gingrich to blame the opposition party for any and everything, this is nothing more than spin tarted-up to look like facts.
Oil companies have millions of acres to drill on, but they won't do it. Why? Republicans are opperating under the poor assumption that within days, weeks, months of the first drilling-rig going operational, that we will start to see "releif". While speculation does help drive price one way or another, we aren't going to see the type of decrease in price that they are claiming will come if the "drill now" meme becomes reality.
And, speaking of reality, guess where the money for Gingrich's program is coming from?
