Would it be an even bigger suprise to hear that the defacto-leader of the conservative movement thinks this way. Not at all.

Limbaugh claims that people don't go after his ideals, nobody takes on him directly. Of course, this statement is completely preposterous and without merit. Daily, you are likely to come across a multitude of liberal/progressive blogs that challenge what Limbaugh not only stands for but what he says. His standpoint that he is not an actor is also equally as laughable. Given the amount of money that he makes, has made, and stands to make, if Limbaugh could make more by praising Nancy Pelosi and Bill Ayres, don't think he wouldn't jump at the opportunity.
That being said, since the man has been doing this for over 20 years, there comes a point where you have to ask yourself if Limbaugh actually started to believe the sticky drivel that pours from his ever gaping maw. When an actor emerses himself/herself into a role completely and utterly ( the method school of acting ) if their mental state is not solide enough to handle become a new person entirely, they begin to lose sight of reality, of how the world actually functions and they can no longer remove himself from the character he has become.
But there's a broader question to this.
Is Limbaugh telling the truth? He is an actor playing this blithering, ignorant, conservative? Or, is he the blithering, ignorant conservative you hear on radio pretending that he just an average guy trying to make money?
