LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - With all eyes on the world's see-sawing stock markets, Fox is bullish on a sequel to "Wall Street."
The new film is titled "Money Never Sleeps." Michael Douglas, who won an Oscar for his role in the 1987 original as corporate raider Gordon Gekko, is interested in reprising the character, but will see how Allan Loeb's script turns out before committing. The storyline is being kept under wraps.
Ed Pressman, who produced the original, is producing the sequel. Loeb wrote the Halle Berry movie "Things We Lost in the Fire."
If you haven't had a change to see "Things We Lost In The Fire", go out and get it now. Fantastic script and fantastic film. I'm not a fan of Halle Berry at all, but this is probably her best performance since Monsters Ball.
Considering how Wallstreet influenced other films, most notably Boiler Room and one particular scene from The 25th Hour, it will be interesting to see how "Money" utilizes how life is different some 21 years after Oliver Stone's orignal film.
People love to cite the "greed is good" scene, but I prefer this one:
And here's The 25th Hour:
