Newsweek has just published a story online about an outstanding tax debt owed by the McCain's on this beachfront condo in La Jolla County California.
Once it was made known that this story was going to be printed, the McCains seemed to think that it was time to pay their outstanding tax debt.
From and update listed on The Huffington Post:
The report notes that the McCains paid the bulk of their back taxes yesterday, but continue to owe additional taxes:
It should be noted that the McCain's own seven homes that are controlled thrugh the 'trust' of Cindy McCain and that the one in La Jolla County was due to go into 'defualt' status on July 1st.
Everyone knows the old 'the check's in the mail' line. And then, there's the 'well, I never recieved a bill' line. It appears that The McCains ( via their surrogates ) are attempting to use both of those lines on the people that are even investigating this story.
But, this doesn't suprise me in the least. This is, after all, the man that recently claimed that the American economy could get a boost if more people sold on EBay.
Sure, if you're rich ( or happen to be rich simply because you dumped your sick wife for a rich sugar-momma ) and you're a politician, you're going to have 'handlers' for just about everything. But, if you are trying to become the next leader of the 'alleged' free world, then it would probably be good form to know whether or not you paid your property taxes or not.
