This should get the fundies' undies all knotted up - Daniel Radcliffe is an atheist (via Pharyngula).
Listen closely and you'll hear the screams of vindication rising from church potlucks around the country as the army of concerned anti-Potter crusaders heave a collective "See! We were right!"
So, you will understand my suprise this morning while listening to NPR on my way to work. It seems that the Vatican is alright with the new Potter film.
The Vatican lauded the latest Harry Potter film, saying "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" made the age-old debate over good vs. evil crystal clear.
The Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano even gave two thumbs up to the film's treatment of adolescent love, saying Monday it achieved the "correct balance" and made the stars more credible to the general audience.
While many within the ultra-conservative-religious fringe have decried Potter as "satanism" even before the films started in 2001, it seems that this is no small victory for a series of books that actually have a positive message behind them.

Thanks for the shout out, man. I've been reading your blog fairly religiously (*ahem*) lately, so it was cool to see the link.
As for the story, I wasn't aware of the Vatican's statement on the new Harry Potter. Almost makes me wanna boycott it now just out of spite. ;)
