The Movie File

GIALLO

Dario Argento's latest offering stars Oscar winner Adrien Brody and doesn't appear to be a departure from the grande master of the horror/thriller genre.

( h/t to Samurai Frog for this one )

INGLORIOUS BASTERDS

The more I see of Tarantino's latest offering, the more I realize how far his films have come since Reservoir Dogs. Yet, at the same time, I see a cinematic master that far too many decry as "gimmicky".

SHORTS

Robert Rodriguez is a unique director. After having made his mark in cinema history by being a renaisance man in production ( he writes, directs, does cinematography, edits, and scores his films ) he did the unthinkable by removing himself from the DGA when they told him that co-directing Sin City with comic legend Frank Miller was against their rules.

But Rodriquez is more than a renegade, he knows how to cross genres while still maintaining his cred. How many action-adventure directors do you know can create fantastic kids movies too?

COLD SOULS

The very premise of this smacks of Charlie Kaufman.

THE ROAD

I read Cormac McCarthy's novel during Christmas and felt this strange connection between it, The Stand, and Richard Matheson's "I Am Legend".

THE HURT LOCKER

This is a far cry from Near Dark and Strange Days. I'm thinking that this is the film that just might earn Bigelow a nomination. I'm thinking BAFTA and Independant Spirit.

FOOD INC.

Living in a region of the U.S. where TYSON is a major industry, this film is bound to stir up some rhetoric and certainly not be shown in the local theatre.
