Palin's Biblical Law

I'm really starting to believe that Palin has never read the Bible all the way through.



Not only were our Founding Fathers not Christians, the reality of the way that women are treated in Biblical text, this really isn't a standpoint that Palin should be espousing.

Let's take a look at how women are punished in the Bible for violating the "law".

- The book of Numbers states that if a man even suspects a woman of infidelity then he can take her before the priest and force her to drink a mixture of dirt from the Tabernacle floor and water. Considering the state of sanitation ( or lack thereof ) this would not be a pleasant undertaking.

- Leviticus states that any daughter of a priest that loses her virginity before marriage must be put to death by fire. How many preachers daughters do you think we'd be incineration each month if Palin had her way?

- Deuteronomy tells of a law that states at no time shall a woman come to her husband's aid if it means the woman were to grab the other man's penis in an effort to subdue him. And since the penis in early Christian text as sacrosanct, the woman would ceremoniously have her hand chopped off - for attempting to aid her husband.

- Psalms, as well as Leviticus, showed that even giving birth to a female child was seen as "dirty" as the woman would have a spend an extended time in isolation as well as paying the priest for a "purification ritual".

- Chapter 11 in 1st Corinthians has been used as an excuse by religious zealots for centuries to sexually abuse women, as it states that "the head of the woman is man".

- The second chapter of Revelations shows that Jesus would kill the children of a woman that has an affair, even if those children weren't conceived by the adulterous action.

I'm guessing you see where this is going.

If Palin really wants the laws in this country to be centered around not only the Ten Commandment but Biblical text then she should really do some studying before she starts talking.
