Beck's Family Strategy

Did it really happen this way?

While Media Matters used this clip to correctly highlight Beck lying about how he never brought Obama's family into his rambling, incoherent, tirades, it was Beck's explanation of what happened after his Friday radio broadcast that stuck out to me.

He claimed that he was so jazzed up, so enraged, that he cursed and yelled at his wife.

The first thing that popped in my head was "man, he's really showing his audience and his detractors that he's becoming completely unglued". But then seconds later, the reality of what he was doing took hold, and it pained me to say that it was a pretty brilliant move on his part.

He's creating the narrative that Obama, his administration, and all Democrats are attempting to control conservatives - that they have figured out a way to damage the "family structure" of Republicans. And while to those of us that have the ability of free, reasoned, thought will see that this is a completely preposterous notion, this strategy will play quite well with Beck's audience.

But there's still that part of me that thinks Beck really does treat his wife the way he described it. I just don't expect his audience to care about or even consider that.

I guess he's never heard of the saying "You can't control others actions, but you CAN control your reaction.". Maybe he should think about that. If he was so enraged that he yelled at his wife, then he needs to decide if it is worth it. If he finds that it is worth it, then his wife needs to react with a frying pan.
