The Power Of The Liberal Mind

This study is sure to cause some on the Right to get a little testy.

Data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (Add Study) support all three of Kanazawa's theories.

Students (grades 7 through 12) who identified themselves as "very liberal" show an average IQ of 106 during adolescence, while those who identified themselves as being "very conservative" had an average IQ of 95 during adolescence.

Those who identified themselves as "not at all religious" had an average IQ of 103 at adolescence; those that reported being "very religious" had average IQs of 97.

You can almost hear conservatives shouting, "but what do kids that age know about being a liberal or being a conservative?" And to that, I would almost have to agree, but this would depend on what their views of conservativism and liberalism were. The reactionary right have embraced young "conservative" voices like Jonathan Kohn, so attacking the study in that fashion would fall completely flat.

Aside from that, conservatives have nothing but utter disdain for scientific findings, most especially if they aren't painted as the saviors of the world or vastly superior in all faccets of existance by such studies.
