And while I must sincerely apologize for equating Rachel with such twitchy blatherings, we really should look at the nature of Liz Cheney's thesis.
Straight away, this whole storyline is being given credibility by some of the loudest voices within the conservative movement, so you have to wonder why they didn't so their research on this to begin with.
As much as I want to be able to wrap my head around this issue from a conservative perspective - you know, those people that claim to worship at the feet of our judicial process and the rights afforded to those arrested, caught, or captured - it amazes me that they AND Liz Cheney have conveniently forgotten that these alleged terrorists were captured and consulted by these people while George W. Bush was in office. Oh, the irony is so delicious.
We should break this down into simpler terms.
1 - only three cases tried in the allegedly pristine tribunal setting during the entirety of the Bush occupation of The White House.
2 - over 140 civilian proceedings of terrorists have successfully taken place in the last 15 years.
The numbers don't lie.
Military tribunals require an alleged terrorist to be represented by someone, so her little horror show is moot. But don't expect conservatives to admit this.
