Musically Tone Deaf

In which Beck reviews a song that conservatives usually applaud.

And that's the portion of the song that conservatives always leave out. The problem with Beck's assertion is that it is completely and wholly inaccurate.

Woodie Guthrie wrote that song as not only a response to God Bless America ( a common way of communicating a point that musicians still utilize today ) but as a statement that this nation, in many aspects, favors the more affluent and sees the "common man" as a completely ancillary character.

By and large, Guthrie was a true populist and championed workers rights and the rights of the average American more than Glenn Beck ever has or ever will. And I'm still trying to figure out why Beck used the date of the songs publication as the crescendo of his maligning of well documented musical history.

Is he saying Woodie Guthrie was a Communist? A Nazi? A Socialist? All three? How is painting a true picture of this country a bad thing?
