Culture Of Victimhood

Ah, the conservative double-standard. Isn't it wonderful.

March is Women’s History Month, in which we acknowledge the accomplishments and contributions of women in history and in society today.

But for a select group of women – conservative women – their accomplishments and contributions are rarely celebrated but often demeaned and mocked in sexist – and crassly sexual – ways.

The Culture & Media Insitute looked back at what the media had to say over the past year about some of today’s most prominent conservative women, including Michelle Malkin, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Sarah Palin and Liz Cheney, and compiled a list of the 10 worst attacks on these women who dare to speak out in favor of conservative values.

Much of the criticism was the worst sort of misogyny with a dose of violence and disgusting adolescent sex references thrown in for good measure. The media outlets in question ranged from Playboy magazine to MSNBC to Sirius XM radio and included comments from both men and women.

The message that rang through loud and clear was that perspectives from conservative women were not appreciated or welcomed, and if a woman stepped out of line, she deserved whatever treatment she received.

I recall a statement from Ann Coulter upon the release of her latest tome of prattling nonsense, that Liberals are part of a culture of "victimhood".

Now, I'm all for accountability from everyone, especially those with whom I identify and look up to. So, for the alleged champions of conservative ideology, whom are suppost to uphold accountability and continually lambastes the supposed "double-standards" of Liberals/Progressives, I find it increasingly interesting ( to borrow the hottest meme on Fox"News" lately ) that these same conservatives would suddenly be shouting that the women wish whom they identify cannot be scrutinized, questioned, called-out, or challenged.

But while some claim that there is sexism toward conservative women, I cannot deny that there is - the same is true for attacks on liberal/progressive women. The only difference is that you don't hear us crying "SEXISM!!!!" everytime a female Democrat is questioned. That being said, the overwhelming bulk of discussion regarding conservative women is just, understandable, and without malice.

That being said, the penultimate conservative, female victim - at least until they find another, is Sarah Palin. No matter what is being discussed - be it her book, her ability to function as a politician, her actions as a pundit and alleged writer - she is thrown in the faces of everyone in America as a person that is NOT to be touched. Why is that?

So, to those shouting that conservative women are inordinately the victims of sexist and unfair rants, I would have you take a look at how Pelosi, Boxer, Feinstein, and Maddow for examples. I'm not complaining because I know it's predictable for conservatives to do such things. That's why you don't hear us complaining.
