Worship Instructions

I think it's safe to say that Glenn Beck has completely lost the plot.

I'm begging you, your right to religion and freedom to exercise religion and read all of the passages of the Bible as you want to read them and as your church wants to preach them . . . are going to come under the ropes in the next year. If it lasts that long it will be the next year. I beg you, look for the words 'social justice' or 'economic justice' on your church Web site. If you find it, run as fast as you can. Social justice and economic justice, they are code words. Now, am I advising people to leave their church? Yes!

Beck's creepy and ultimately cringe inducing versions of a fireside chat are the hallmark of conservative rhetoric. There is no substantive proof that Beck can provide that shows that anyone's freedom to worship where, when, and how often they want is under attack. But this won't stop conservatives from believing him. They will, and unflinchingly so, because they "saw it on television".

I've heard some Christians in my town speak negatively about what they believe is "social justice". It's quite frightening how well they have their talk-points metaphorically burned into their flesh. The only problem is that they use this term to describe what they feel are incompetent activities within the judicial system - i.e. trying to reform sex offenders. And while I don't think that you can send a child molester to rehab and expect he/she to be "reformed", think about how Christianity is grounded in social justice from the start.

Beck is quite adept at misdirecting and distorting reality. I'm sure in another life he was a fantastic illusionist. But this is reality. Beck is completely misrepresenting what Christianity was founded on in order to create the illusion that the Obama administration is manipulating how churches operate. It's a patently false narrative to launch, but I wouldn't be surprised if lots of small "patriot churches" start popping up within the next 6 months.
