So "great Americans" should give up their rights when the "need" presents itself?

Actually, this doesn't surprise me, as this country was taken over by white puritans that demanded that the Native Americans give up the right to their "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness".

Does this mean that Gays can be "Great Americans" if they give up the ability to marry someone they love?

Does this mean that a family that has lost a son, a brother, a father, mother, or daughter in Iraq or Afghanistan must give up their right to voice opposition to The Westboro Baptist Church openly and hysterically protesting their loss?
