From Media Matters
While some can listen to this audio and see nothing more than a "I know you are but what am I" type of back-and-forth, there's a bit more going on here than that.
In point of fact, Rush Limbaugh's thought on torture are precisely what Charles claims they are.
Rush has stated that torture is an effective tool that can be used to extract credible intel.
If the McCain Amendment passes and we, therefore, extend constitutional protections to terrorists, Al Qaeda terrorists, enemies of the United States, we will just funnel them off to other places without ever having them directly in our -- under our control. And whatever happens to them there, there's not gonna be anything anybody can do to stop -- and it'll probably be worse off for them than now. But what is so disheartening about all of this is that it is simply an effort to gain media attention, to stand out from the crowd, and to appeal to whoever in this country that this is going to appeal to. And it also is a bit egomaniacal in that McCain has appointed himself the expert on torture, because he was tortured for five years. He also admitted that torture worked on him.
He has also dismissed torture as inconsequential - go so far as to equate it with fraternity hazing rituals.
...This is no different than what happens at the Skull and Bones initiation and we're going to ruin people's lives over it and we're going to hamper our military effort, and then we are going to really hammer them because they had a good time. You know, these people are being fired at every day. I'm talking about people having a good time, these people, you ever heard of emotional release? You ever heard of need to blow some steam off?
To hear Ruch Limbaugh say it, you apparently have to not only condone torture, but actively participate in sophomoric pranks like his alleged "Operation Chaos" in order to be a "real" Republican.
But, what really stood out within this clip is the fact that Charles claims to be a vetern of the Marines and the Army. Perhaps this is another of Limbaugh's "phony" soldiers.
