U.S. Sen. Scott Brown, whose stunning victory in January was fueled in part by Tea Party anger, has snubbed the fiery grassroots group and declined its invitation to join Sarah Palin Wednesday at a massive rally on Boston Common, the Herald has learned.
Brown’s decision to skip the first big rally in Boston by the group whose members are credited with helping him win election has some experts saying he’s tossed the Tea Party overboard, as he prepares for re-election in 2012.
And while the Boston Herald frames their piece within the context of a re-election bid, as Brown is merely serving out the remainder of time left from Ted Kennedy's term, the fine folks over at Fox"Nation" are finally realizing their "miracle-man" was nothing more than another John McCain in disguise.
Seriously, Brown is playing this pretty smart, as aligning yourself with Tea Baggers and Sarah Palin at this point in the game really isn't going to gain him any real ground worth holding onto. He likely knows that the likes of Palin, Bachman, and Glenn Beck are starting to do damage to the GOP. He's looking at the long view, something that most conservatives don't seem to be able to accomplish. Then again, I could be wrong.
Never-the-less, Brown is obviously more concerned with re-election than Tea Bagger posturing. He knows what his state wants, and it's not conspiratorial blubbering.
