He Thinks He Liberated Our Schools Too?

Rarely is the question asked - is your report card "real"?

It would be a very interesting, a very telling, and more than likely an extremely eye opening moment if you asked the average primary school teacher what there lesson-plan entails, what they can expect from their students, who they can pass, and what their expectations are and how they have changed since the implementation of NCLB.



Does he not realize that the No Child Left Behind program took away a teacher's right to innovate, to challenge his/her students? Does he not realize that the standardization of testing required by the the NCLB program has set the bar so low that a child that started Kindergarten in 2000 is now about to enter high school, and has essentially been "dumbed-down" when compared to a child entering high school in the 1990s?

The far-right conservatives in this county believe that the answer is "private schools" - you know, injecting religion at an early age. They believe that the answer is to ignore teacher/student needs in public school. They also believed the NCLB was a good idea. And, you see where that got the kids.
