While some conservatives are trying to provide covering fire for J.D. Hayworth after his Santorum-esque babblings about gay marriage, those same people are kind of distancing themselves from this type of insane rhetoric. That leads me to wonder two things. First, and considering that conservatives have suddenly embraced the "rights of the individual", can they really risk such a high profile candidate acting like this? Secondly, is this all really just a conservative strategy designed to give them enough wiggle room to blame the "liberal media" when Hayworth looses?
Here's the audio in question.
Hayworth is more of a Tea Bagger candidate than has been presented before - his birther standpoint ( something prominent conservatives have also attempted to whitewash ) coupled with this proves he's got a solid voting block with them - but just take a look at how well they have all fared.
